I am Lori, and I am an avid knitter. I love to knit socks, hats, shawls and gloves/wristlets. I used to carry my projects in plastic zip bags with the bottom corner cut out for the yarn to feed through. One day I finally thought, there has got to be a cuter, better, more eco friendly way! So, I started making bags out of some fabric I had lying around, and voila, the first Yarn Pop was born! It has gone through many changes since then (If you could only see the first prototype!), and eventually became the product you see today.
I went to a local yarn shop to see what they thought and they were excited and even bought some. I was excited to see something I made in a shop! I then created the first line for 2011 and made as many as I could before Stitches West. I even ended up buying a second sewing machine to see me through because my first one got a bit tired.
I live on the Central Coast of California with my husband, Dee (who you may see around the booth, or at the lunch tables doing techy things, during a show) and our two dogs, Lexi and Popcorn. Popcorn has become our unofficial mascot since he was part of the inspiration for the name (Yep, the “Pop” in Yarn Pop came from him). You’ll see him appear on our Facebook page or Twitter stream every once in awhile.
About Yarn Pop ®
Yarn Pop* is a product sold by Top Shelf Totes, LLC. We are a family run business and started offering Yarn Pop products early 2011 with our first public showing at Stitches West. This was really our market test, and we were sold out by Sunday morning! We also attended Sock Summit and Vogue Knitting Live – Los Angeles last year, where we had a lot of fun (As an avid sock knitter, how could I pass up the opportunity to participate in the Sock Summit!).
This year, we decided to kick things off with an East Coast show, Vogue Knitting Live – NYC where we brought the most stock we’ve ever had at a show, and again, we sold out by Sunday morning!
So now, with growth happening, we are getting help. What this means is, all Yarn Pop’s are designed (and some are still made) by me, and they are all made in the USA.
Feel free to contact us if you have any questions. You can also check out our storefront to see what the latest patterns are.
Yes, we do wholesale. You can find out more on our Wholesale page.
